Yeah germs are the cause of infectious diseases. At first they enter our body via air, water and damage our cells. They are cause of many diseases like Typhoid, Diarrhoea, cholera, Pneumonia etc. Our awareness is only the solution to get rid of these diseases otherwise we suffer and get a treatment which sometimes costly.
