My Dietbet (The Chubby Girl's Starting a Diet - Part 2)

in #health7 years ago

It's now the final week of the Spring into Shape Dietbet. My target to win back my $35, plus split the remaining amount with those that reach their goal was to lose 8 pounds in 4 weeks. I was doing really well and was down 6 pounds. Then @donvee and I visited some friends on a long weekend. This meant eating at restaurants twice a day and ALL the ice cream (thank you Ben and Jerry).

Right now I've got 8 days to lose the remaining 3 pounds. Goodbye carbs! And chocolate!

I've been doing strength training 3 times a week, so I'm planning on increasing my sets and reps. We're finally getting some Spring weather in Pennsylvania, so we've been going for longer walks, as well.

(Don't worry about today's steps, I'll be walking on my breaks and lunch tonight at work)

Meal planning has been tricky, but the husband cooked up some great high protein, low carb meals for me for the work week. We did go to dinner for my Mom's 60th birthday over the weekend. And I had a slice of cake. How could I tell my Mom, "Sorry, no cake for me on your birthday, I'm on a diet"? We just made sure we went on another walk after dinner.

After my wife had my daughter years ago, she struggled with weight for several years and then started walking.. long walks. This turned to running and the weight literally fell off her. I could feel her rib cage she was that skinny and it didn't take long. If you can run, it will make a lot of difference.

I'd love to run, but I have recurring knee problems and I get plantar fasciitis. I had surgery on my right foot last June and have been having problems since then. I just had an MRI on Friday, so I'm waiting on the results. I have been walking more lately, though. Increasing distance and time. I'd love to be able to run another 5k again!

I hope you are staying on track as much as you can!

honestly i'd say, not looking at food as a diet but as a way of life, everything becomes easier. For instance slowly transitioning and weening off certain foods, that are doing you no good (and i can explain why these arent, because you might think some of these are healthy but unfortunately some are worse than that, even toxic)

Diary/ refined sugar/ table salt/ meat/ fish/ gluten

if you transitioned off all of this, it will be easy

Honestly because i've been there!

This doesnt mean you cant have tasty food! theres so much you can eat

Natural Sugar / mineral salts / seeds, nuts, pulses, beans, vegetables, fruit

and all the exciting combinations you can make with them. its up to you how active you want to be making and preparing this stuff.

Even if you did this 20%, then 50% and 70% of the time, you will still see the benefits increasing over time, until you dont crave or want the stuff you are used to now....

what is your star sign btw? mine is Taurus, we like our food :)
I honestly see a connection with astrology / personality type and how we relate to food and the body / health in general.

Keep going! You can do it! I like what @celestialcow said about not looking at food as a diet but a way of life! It's so true! At least now the weather is getting better here in PA =)
