Super Ultra Inspiration

in #health7 years ago (edited)

A moment to fanboy, I must pass this on. Out of sheer admiration. In October 2017, Courtney Dauwalter ran an ultra marathon, a 238 mile race through the Moab Desert. Not only did she win the race, running all 238 miles in 58 hours, but she beat 2nd place by ten hours (he was 22 miles behind her). Something I found to be inspiring was that she trained with absolutely zero dietary restrictions. She enjoys nachos and drinking beer--what?! During the race she was stuffing her face with quesadillas which were one of the many options at the rest stations where buffets were spread out before the contestants. Quesadillas... Ms. Dauwalter, you are amazing! #moab240

Nice! I'm from Moab :) It's beautiful.

That willpower to just keep moving, awesome.

Courtney hallucinated a cello player on the side of the trail. She took a twenty minute nap, at one point, but as she began to stumble deep into the race, she allowed herself another minute snooze break. She said that her one minute of sleep completely refreshed and energized her, as if she'd slept a full night. How that is even possible? Imagine running 200+ miles and feeling refreshed after one minute, that's sixty seconds, of sleep!
