Hi Steemians,
In my previous article, I briefly described what posture is and how the ideal posture of a person should be. And in this article, I will talk about the postural deformities which are frequently encountered.
If you're ready, let's start...
No, you're not!
First of all, if you decided to read this article, thank you! However, I want you to leave your computer for 10 minutes. Come on, stand up... Yes, you didn't read it wrong, please stand up... I'm sure that you are sitting in front of your computer for hours and a little walk will be good for you. This article will be right here when you come back, I promise :)
Is it hard for you?
OK! at least you can do some exercises while sitting.
In fact, the purpose of this article is to keep you away from computer for a while but if you are stubborn, I must talk about some bad postures and its deformities.
So, what are these postural deformities?
- KYPHOSIS
It implies a forward curve on the backbone. It may be seen on pregnant women and overweight people. The deformities such as flat feet, rheumatic diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis, increase in waist lordosis, weakness in abdominal muscles, weak back muscles, and unsupported large breasts are some of the major causes of Kyphosis.
- LORDOSIS
Lordosis is the excessive inward curve of the spine. Imbalance and power loss in the abdomen, back hip muscles and ligaments increase the lordosis. Pregnancy and excessive weight increase the lumbar lordosis. The most important result is the pain on waist and legs and it is seen in patients with a diagnosis of slip on the vertebrae.
- WAIST FLATNESS
In this posture, the abdominal muscles are strong but the waist muscles are weak.
Waist flatness increases the load on disks and so that increases the risk for herniate.
- ROUNDED SHOULDERS
Humpback, sagging and rounding of the shoulders and neck leaning forward
are the often encountered posture deficits for these patients. These people frequently have pain on shoulders, neck, wrist, arm and shoulder bone due to staying in same position for a long time and recurrent micro traumas.
- SCOLIOSIS
These people have their spine curved to the side. It generally happens on any part of spine (Thoracic or lumbar regions). We call this C -Type Scoliosis. Sometimes there can be curves to both regions and S - Type Scoliosis. This might be the most serious and vital one of the postural deformities. And scoliosis , also includes some other the postural deformities we have mentioned above in itself.
I suppose you'll be a more conscious observer in light of these information. Lets first look at the mirror then our surroundings, who has these kind of problems ? Give more attention to the children and the elders .
An interesting topic on which I have been chewing around for 30plus years by now g each and every bit of information can help to find out what a body is able to do and what better should not be done ;)
thank you so much for your valuable contribution and i can easly say that our posture creates our character;-)
