Be your own doctor

I know what you are thinking! "I didn't go to medical school so how I can trust myself with my own health?" Well, if you don't trust yourself with your own health, then who are you going to trust? A medical doctor who is more likely to prescribe you treatments that have more side effects than your current symptoms, misdiagnose you or simply treat your symptoms rather than cure the root cause of the problem?

For thousands of years, people have cured their diseases using natural treatments and remedies. There were doctors, but even those doctors used whatever came from nature. If we take care of our health by eating healthy food that have nutritional values, we will be able to prevent and combat diseases simply by eating the right food. In fact, "Every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease or fighting it."

How you can treat yourself

You don't have to be sick to take care of your health. All you need to do is consciously eat the right food so you can feed your body what it was designed to eat and digest. If you eat food that is packaged, canned or has a shelf life, then know that this food is not real food, but engineered food. Our bodies are not designed to deal with foreign invasions, so eating processed food, sugar and junk will (sooner or later) create a chain of health issues.

When we are sick, we are programmed to reach for pills to 'help' us get better. However, the damage those pills are causing is more dangerous than the actual pain we have. For example, if you have a cold, don't rush to painkillers or cough medicine. Instead, make yourself a hot cup of ginger, lemon and honey. This way you can help your body recover as each of these ingredients will help you deal with your cold.

For example, ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory plant that provides relief from cold symptoms such as cough, runny nose and sore throat whilst boosting your immune system. As a great source of Vitamin C, lemons contain flavonoid compounds that have both antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Honey is an excellent cough suppressant that has tons of benefits for your body. The fact that it has been used for centuries to relief the symptoms of cold is a testament to its healing properties. By always taking the natural route to heal yourself, the kind of food or drink you consume will strengthen your body's natural defences and ensure you deal with the root of the problem rather than go to a doctor that will band-aid a serious health issue with over the counter medicine or toxic treatments.
