Hey Steemers!
Conventional deadlift or Sumo Deadlift? Trying the figure out the right one for you can be a big task with lots of trial and error. These 2 movements can be hard to master but knowing which one suits you the most can improve how you train and improve your numbers!
Conventional Deadlift:
- Feet shoulder width apart can give lifters more power!
- More bent over which means if you have a weaker lower back you may have back pain
- Uses an equal distribution between legs and lower back to start the lift
- More compact set up
- More of a "thrusting" motion
Sumo Deadlift:
- Feet much wider apart with toes out on a 45 Degree angle
- Upper Body is more upright
- More leg muscles are used to lift the weight which takes the load off the lower back
- Needs more hip flexibility
- More of a "stand" up motion
Before sticking to a style of deadlift, ask yourselves:
Which style feels more natural and athletic?
Which style do I feel strongest in?
Practice both styles and see which one works for you the most!
