How a predominantly grain fed diet may be unhealthy for your bones and teeth

So, where do we start. Most of us obviously love grains. I'm not knockin grains, they can be really healthy and beneficial for us.

What am I getting at? Despite grains having nutritional benefits, there's one flaw. Grains, seeds, and legumes(for the most part) contain a substance called "Phytic acid".

Now what is Phytic acid? Phytic acid is a molecule that's known to bond to phosphorus, and calcium. It's prevelent in these foods in the form of "Phytate". Phytate is phytic acid that is in "salt" form(if you know chemistry), meaning it's bound to phosphorus, phytate aids in the germination procces of grains etc.
When humans consume phytate, we take in phytic acid. How is this bad, and what effect is it having on our bodies? Well as humans we lack the enzyme called "Phytase". Without phytase we can't break down phytic acid inside our bodies. The phytic acid will pass through our system and through our intestinal tract. So what's the problem? The problem is that when phytic acid passes through our bodies, it binds to phosphorus and calcium inside our digestive system. It can also bind to iron and zinc under certain conditions.

As we take in a diet consisting heavily of phytic acid, we're blocking our ability to asorb essential anounts of phosphorus and calcium, which is needed for healthy teeth and bones.
Do we stop eating these foods? In todays society that's REALLY hard. We can limit our intake. We can also soak our grains, or sprout them, which is not an instant process, but can remove 90+% of phytic acid.
From what I've researched, people usually use apple cider vinegar for the soaking process.

Hope this was informative!

Thank you!
