I don't think about weight loss for any particular reason.
What's important is to have a healthy nutrition plan that is long-term and sustainable. When you eat healthy, and work out regularly, the weight loss will be automatic. You will feel better when you are not sluggish and not unenergetic.
If you have a weight loss plan for external reasons, then that won't last. If you want to lose 20 lbs because of someone's advice or approval, you may stop trying when that person is absent.
When it comes to medical reasons, if you are heavily overweight or morbidly obese, you better start a plan for weight maintenance immediately after consulting with a physician because by then it doesn't matter what you think or don't think.
Remember, HEALTH IS WEALTH!
