Aloe
The best way to make a kitchen (or any other minor cut) or a burn disappear is to put a small over the wound and then put a band aid or a bandage over it. Change every few hours, once you see a naturally green piece of plant get discolored.Citrus fruit and strawberries - make those a regular part of your diet and you can ditch your vitamin C supplement (yes yes, I know all about stated daily values etc., but it is also question of adsorption and how easy the natural vs. synthetic molecules can metabolize) Lots of veggies have high content of vitamin C as well, but one must take care not to expose those to too much heat if they want to take advantage of that particular nutrient. For me it is easier to get fruits for a regular snack and be done with it.
Cucumbers, bananas and mineral water will take care of low grade fever. Yes, I know it may be hard to believe it at first, but give it a try and you will notice it really works!
Of course, every one knows about chicken soup. Now even the scientists came around :) It has been proven that (attention) home made, slow cooked chicken broth that uses all (or most) parts of the animal, and traditional stock-making veggies like onion, carrot and celery (I substitute the last one with ginger, partly a personal preference, but also minding ginger's own healing powers /see below/) are very beneficial for common cold and alleviation of flu-like symptoms.
Ginger. Fresh ginger boiled for 3-5 minutes in clean water will make a first-class remedy for an upset stomach, coming on cold or flu and also acts as a tonic, warming up the body and improving metabolism significantly if used over time
(to be continued, if it gathers any positive feedback)
P.S. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a culture where natural, mostly plant-based remedies were always first (and often the only on necessary) order of business. Combined with healthy attitudes about fresh water, air and sun exposure and exercise, it has been all I needed to stay virtually cold a flue free in a very unforgiving climate of extreme North. Until this day I rely almost exclusively on natural solutions for all of my health needs, and whenever I have a new health challenge (which one tends to do with time :) ) I always first research natural remedies for it.
I can tell you that over time it does really give your body a big advantage, being medicine and other conventional "treatments" free. I hope more and more people consider natural ways of dealing with common ailments, as our predecessors pass on to us the whole abundance of wisdom and resources beyond what an industry of sickness would like us to notice. Wishing all good and healthy life!
@regeneration, I found Aloe better than any ommercial product for light sunburns.
yes, and we use at at home for any kind of skin irritation and trauma. I honestly can say the cuts heal way faster with the simple aloe application. but I always use the fresh plant (back home they grow it in pots), not the store bought gel. it is good to know you find it helpful, too! :)
just remembered: they also use sourcream (!) for pretty bad sunburns where I grew up. that one, however, I am going to pass as I have a natural dislike fermented milk and yeast products (unfortunately, as those ca be very healthy :) )
