Kitchen Witchery~ Receiving the Blessings of the Springtime Maiden
Springtime flowers are bursting from the soil of Gaia's soul! There is a super abundance of wild edible flowers and foods being given to us in this season that are imbued with all the primordial magic of Earth Mother. When we commune, collect and prepare these sacred foods with love we are infusing our body temples with Her love. These spring flowers are attuned to the energy of the first grail gateway and the archetypal energy of the grail maiden or grail knight/bard.
“I am the delicate whisper of innocence; I come to you in silence, when the wind dances through the trees and the morning dew reflects rainbow light. I am the pure place that has never been hurt, who opens with trust and playful sweetness. I am sensitive and responsive, sometimes shy, sometimes wantonly surrendered. I am forever virgin; everything is new within me. If you show me devotion, I will give you everything, for in my vulnerability I am made perfect.” ~Womb Awakening by Seren and Arza Bertrand M.D.
This gateway is located at the clitoris for women and tip of the lingam for men and also connects to the thymus gland. Any trauma that occurred at this place in the body can impact our ability to be open to this magical energy and share it with another but with intention we can find this essence within us again. Some of the wounds that can be stored here are distrust, betrayal, suspicious, scared, jaded, numb, afraid of life, overdisciplined, controlling, judgemental, cynical, armored hear, disappointment, bitter. (From Womb Awakening). We can tune into this gateway and feel which patterns are most relevant for us at this time and then make a prayerful intention to open this energy and anchor this energy again.
One of many powerful ways to do this is by creating and cooking with the plant wisdom during spring.
Wild, local and freshly prepared foods contain so much more nutritional life force and healing potential. Dandelions are a favorite springtime food. They have a detoxifying action on the liver and kidney’s and are rich in vitamins and trace minerals like calcium and potassium.
“Dandelion is also useful for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and unstable blood sugar levels. This plant is full of bitter constituents are not only excellent for stimulating the digestive system but offer anti-inflammatory benefits. Dandelion is also helpful as a lactation stimulator” ~The Practical Herbalist
The name Dandelion comes from the French dent de leon and means lion’s tooth which reflects the shape of the leaves. The flowers can be added to breads, muffins, pancakes. They can be battered fried and dipped in ketchup and my personal favorite is Cream of “Lion’s Tooth” Soup.
This is the recipe I use for Cream of “Lion’s Tooth” Soup.

Violet’s make another wonderous springtime snack. The flowers and leaves are edible and delicious, perfect for a salad. They also are great to infuse into a massage oil which can be applied anywhere on the body that needs this essential lifeforce. The purple color relates to the masculine crown chakra and can assist in anchoring this powerful energy deeply into the matter of our sacred body temple. They are also high in Vitamin C.
"Violet has a rich tradition in Europe, where it has been used for centuries as a pulmonary remedy for dry hacking cough. It is often recommended for bronchitis and whooping cough, along with the roots of marshmallow (Althaea officinalis) and licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Violet can also be used as a tonic for chronically swollen lymph nodes. As with many other herbs with an action on the lymphatic system, it has a long tradition of use in the treatment of cancer.
Topically, violet is used as a poultice, compress, infused oil and salve in the treatment of dry or chaffed skin, abrasions, insect bites, eczema, varicose veins and hemorrhoids. It is cooling, soothing and anti-inflammatory." ~Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine
