Eating spicy reduces the rate people die by 13%. A study by the University of Vermont followed more than 16,000 Americans for up to 23 years. One group regularly ate Red Hot Chilli Peppers and one group didn’t, there were noticeably fewer deaths for the people who ate the peppers.
They aren’t exactly sure how spicy foods make you live longer, they do know that Capsaicin, an ingredient in hot peppers, is definitely good for you. It can help prevent obesity and regulate blood flow to the heart. It also helps the bacteria in your gut.
This might explain why spicy diets help you live longer. There have been many claims over the years about the health benefits of spicy foods, like weight loss, reducing inflammation and curing a cold. Now it could add years to your life too
