In preparation for NYSC, I had to do a series of tests, and some of the tests were Genotype and Blood group.
As a child, I've always known I was B+, AS but the results from thus NYSC tests proved me wrong.
My Mum works at ABUTH, I was even born there, at Kaduna State and my tests were carried out there. Myself and my siblings were found to be the same B+ and AS from the results at the point of birth.
For the NYSC, we went to ABUTH, Zaria and did the Medical tests required for NYSC.
That was where the shocker came, the results were totally different from what we had come to know. Mum was just shocked. She took the blood samples and did it herself.
She couldn't believe it oh
First thing my Dad said was,
"You're an expensive woman"
My Mum explained further by telling me that if I got pregnant for a ➕ child, immediately after delivery, I must take an injection called Anti-D to prevent my body from refusing/fighting with any other fetus (pregnancy) that is also ➕ in the future.
Quite recently, I've been speaking with my Mum about how too many parents are not very direct and open other their children about sexual options. I told her about how parents don't teach their children about condoms and other contraceptives. We talked at length about how parents should tell their children to keep themselves but must also teach them how to protect themselves.
So,much later that day, my Mum called me and spoke to me about Abortion.
She said, I must not have an abortion anyhow. That even if it occurs, I have to make sure that Anti-D would be available immediately after the procedure.
She further reiterated that she's not giving me a license to go on a sex spree or to have abortions but that she's just telling me what I need to know.
And I decided to share that information.

Meaning, as an O-Negative person, you can donate blood to all blood types but you can only receive from an O-Negative person like you 😔.
An O-Negative individual who receives blood from another blood type will suffer reaction that may lead to death.
It's important know your blood type.
