While both are equally good for the body, some research suggests that tea may be somewhat more beneficial. Green tea, with all its polyphenols is especially beneficial for preventing cardiovascular diseases.
For a long time, the beneficial effects of coffee were not well known or understood. Coffee contains antioxidants as well. It has now been shown that coffee could help stave off age-related cognitive degeneration.
In general, the tea or coffee themselves do much more good than harm. However, the same cannot be said for the sugar that goes in to the beverages. Cups of green tea without milk and sugar and black coffee without sugar are the best.

I was having some stomach problems a few years back and my doctor told me that the only thing our body can truly process is tea, coffee and water. (Without sugar and creamer of course). She said since it's all natural the body can break it down faster.
