But I am upset that the US basically only has 1 type of banana (at least where I live). I just moved back to the US from Southeast Asia. I had over 20 types to choose from.

There's other types, but they're low-quality generally.
Try to find some bananas either at whole-foods or if you want the cheaper route, find some that are a product of Mexico.
I'm a fruit addict and literally buy boxes, and I must say once you go to Mexican bananas no big brand name banana will ever do it for you again. Yuck!
