About 10 yrs ago my work life changed direction, from commuting into London daily. I found myself shutting up shop (literally) and thinking of a change of pace, one of my goals for this change in scene was to be able to walk to work. That worked out well, I found my first "corporate" job, and could walk to work, 45min each way gave me a solid 10,000 steps a day.
I loved it, but things change, my company morphed, my role changed, my office is now in California, so I work from home mostly, and yup, my daily exercise level has dropped off.
I am rescued by my little Yorkie, who is always up for a walk, albeit, a very walk, stop, sniff, walk, sniff, pee kind of rhythm, not sure its doing much for elevating the heart rate, but he does have his moments and puts on a run for a bit.
I've recently discovered kettlebells, they are perfect for a bit of home resistance/light cardio, I highly recommend them, you can get by with only one moderate bell, I'm adding successively heavier bells as birthdays/christmas give me an opportunity to drop some "cast iron" hints 😄
I can resonate with that, having had 20/30 minute walks to work in the past and now remote working. Glad to hear you have a pooch who needs those walks and other business. My mothers dog is back at home now but I've actually walked further both days since (as she's an old girl and I was taking her way further than she'd been in years) and plan to continue, until the water warms up!
Weights are home are a must, I think, and they don't have to be heavy - I've only got 2 dumbbells with 20kg in weights. I've used kettlesbells in the past but not consistently. The 'swing' movements do seem to activate a lot of muscles if controlled.
I think I need a hint regarding the cast iron!? 😆
