Some are hesitant to try yoga saying they are not flexible for it, or they are too big to do yoga.
Yoga is not about being flexible..or being slim. It's about finding your balance. Balance in your mind, heart and body.
As a beginner, I enjoyed yoga because I feel relaxed and at peace every after session. Until the time where my body is searching for it.
On my first few sessions, my yoga positions are not perfect and my body sore a bit. After awhile, every stretches, I feel relaxed and my poses improved. Then our instructor began teaching intermediate poses like bird pose, split, bridge, headatand
That time I am only able to do bridge because I have strong back muscle. But I wanted to learn how to do bird pose. So what I did is learn its techniques on youtube and practice it 2-3 times a week.
I also tried push ups and weight lifting to strengthen my arm muscle. Bird pose require strong upper body and arm muscle because all your weight will be supported by your arms and the technique is to balance your upper and lower body and your arms serves as a lever. Similar on how the see-saw works.
After that, on our yoga session I was able to do the bird pose and our intructor was amazed in my improvement. He knows I have been practicing that pose to achieve it.
So don't say you cannot do toga or any other sports. When you do it regularly your body will be able to learn about it because we have muscle memories. The more you practice, the more you & i'lll be able to master it.
Isn't it amazing how our body works? Just believe on yourself and you can achieve whatever you want. Hardwork is the key.
Next article we will discuss about chakras.
