☠ How to break your bad habits ! ☠

Our habits run our every day life. You managed to develop some habits trough out your life and now almost everything you do is based on those habits. But of course, not all habits are healthy. There are many bad habits that we have developed and it has huge negative impact to our life. drinking, smoking, eating junk food, spending all day on the internet and so on... Most people have some bad habits and it's important to try and ditch those habits to improve you life.

You have to realize what triggers it 

All of your bad habits are triggered by something. You might even repeat bad habits often without even realizing it yourself. For example, when you're in a group and everybody is smoking, do you want to smoke much more than if you were alone ? Do you find yourself wanting to drink alcohol when you're at a party but have no cravings for it when you're alone ? You see, if you start realizing what actually triggers the bad habit, you will only then be able to start ditching your unhealthy habits. Once your realize it, you have to consider taking some actions to prevent the triggers.

Don't try to change everything at once

It's really important that you should be trying to fix one problem at once and not all of them at once. If you have a lot of bad habits on your plate, then just try getting rid of one habit at a time. If you attempt to quit all your habits at once, your body will have so many cravings and you will start going crazy. No matter how strong is your willpower, you won't be able to do it. 

And worst of all, most likely your bad habits will become even stronger and you will have less willpower after you have failed to apply the changes. So, like I've said, focus only on one bad habit at a time. Get rid of it and move on to another habit. And after you successfully get rid of one habit, it will become easier to make changes towards other habits as you will be much more motivated to do so. This way you will have much more success. 

Find an alternative

A great way to quit a bad habit, is finding an alternative. Do something else instead of, for example, smoking. Let's say you go out with your friends and you crave to smoke a cigarette when you're in a company. Instead of smoking try occupying yourself with some other activity. You could play basket ball, do some pull ups on the bar and so on... There's always something else you can do. 

If there's no way to do any sports related activity, you can eat some low calorie snacks. Just eat some fruits, like an apple or a banana, or even some vegetables, just to occupy yourself from smoking. You just have to look for alternatives and you will find it if you are highly motivated to give up a bad habit.

One of the best ways to quit a bad habit

I've personally have had success with quitting bad habits and what I've found to work the most, is reading or watching something that shows you the bad side of the habit. How they affect your life and health, how they are killing you pretty fast. 

Sometimes after reading or watching something like this, you will see so many unhealthy effects that you've never even seen or heard about before. This will definitely make you think twice before smoking that cigarette or taking a shot of vodka. 

Obviously, this might not help to entirely quit a bad habit on it's own. Especially if you don't have much willpower. For example, I myself have quite a lot of willpower and I can start doing changes in my life anytime I decide to. It doesn't happen immediately but I start with one step at a time until I have achieved my desired change. 

But even if you don't have much willpower, reading or watching the health effects will indeed still help you somewhat towards your goal. You can find countless videos and articles about the health effects of any bad habit. Here's a few examples

Just remember, it all starts with you. If you don't want to improve your health and have a better lifestyle, then there won't be much that can help you. By taking small baby steps, you will increase your willpower and motivation to improve more and more. You choose your path and you will create a life for yourself depending on the paths you've chosen...
