Last week I took a decision which many take at the beginning of the year. I joined the gym. Ohk, that's 7/8 of the truth as I was already a member of the "red and white" and I simple converted to the "blue and white" which is 15 minutes walk from my home rather than the 20 minutes drive.
Backdrop
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the our shores and we went into lockdown 19 months ago, one of the offers the franchise gym made was to pause our membership as opposed the cancel it. I was, and still am, on the save jobs bandwagon, thus I paused the membership until such a time that it automatically kicked in again. Like most gym members who sign up and never see the gym bar the first 2 weeks of the year, I cannot tell you when it unpaused. Morally, I've been saving jobs. So I recently made up my mind. Two options. Cancel or change brands. So I changed brands.
My younger sister coincidentally shared an inspirational video with me the day I changed brands. This fueled my change, until logic kicked in and I realised that the inspiration was actually a hype, kinda like helium in a balloon, soon enough, the balloon comes back down.
BIRTH OF THIS BLOG
I have battled with blogging as I'm uncertain who I am blogging for. I doubt some Extraterrestrial being will be interested in my thoughts, so who else but me is gonna see all these thoughts but me and a gazillion other bots?!
Over the next 280 days, I will journey to transform my body. Not a radical transformation but rather one where even the Average Joe can identify with. It'll be a balanced mixture of indoor and outdoor activities, and most importantly, not making drastic changes in the kitchen as I have a wife and kids I dine with daily - I cannot afford x2 pots on the stove!
For the month of December, I am denouncing only 2 things: 1) deep fried chicken 2) burger patties whose meat content is suspicious - this means no more take away burger, ground beef only. Most diets fail along the way because of how radical they are, thus sustainability is tough.
THE NUMBERS
This is what we will be watching over time I guess. It's where the proof is in the pudding.
12/12/2021
98cm Chest (across nipples)
93cm Navel (some might call it tummy)
106cm Hips (yeah, will be looking at the J-Lo folks!)
35.5cm LHS Calf
34cm LHS Bicep
I will only be updating measurements every 70 days. I don't believe in instant loss as I question it's sustainability. Will thus also will wait in anticipation as I count down the days.
Next up is to get some supplements. I'm undecided which route to take, thoughts will be highly appreciated.
