NUMBERS DON'T LIE
I once heard it said that "numbers don't lie". I believe the missing piece of the puzzle here is the kitchen in which the numbers were cooked-up in.
A friend and I have an annual challenge that we set ourselves in December under the banner of #14dayslaterremixed. It's a challenge that takes place 01-22 December where one is to find 14 moments to reflect on life. Last year each moment reflected the kilometers one was to run, thus daily my mileage increased by 1 click. It does sound like an easy challenge until one has to run a few back2back days moments after summer festivities - it being the height of summer and celebrations in South Afrika! 2021 clearly was a couch year. I hope 2022 will see me clock more mileage, hopefully double the 2020 figures.
GYM FOR THE 1ST TIME IN 2022
We've had a chest infection bug running in the family for the past 3 weeks. I've been taking it easy for 7-10 days as I had the man flu! Tonight I decided to visit the gym for some light work. The intention was NOT to break a sweat, but rather to get the legs moving and familiarise myself with the equipment at the new home. I concentrated on the legs for today's 40 minute visit, and will do upper body at the next visit. Kicked off on the sitting bike for a 13 minute TV channel hopping and pressing on the big screen, then hit the floor for some resistance machine workouts.
The big insight from tonight is the realisation that I need to carry a notebook on the gym floor. If this journey is to be documented and measurable, I cannot rely on the grey matter upstairs. I need a notebook to note the reps and weight I pushed on various days, as well as track how I'm increasing the resistance over time. The legs are a tad jelly like 70 minutes after the fact, which wasn't the intention.
I'm curious as to how the Christmas puddings affected the waistline if at all. I was intentional about not eating mince pies, and I actually don't recall eating a mince pie this Christmas.
