In less than 27 hours of my reflections on the journey ahead, I coincidentally met my 1st moment of potential weakness. I've heard it said on multiple occasions, "don't go shopping on an empty stomach lest you fall prey to the convenient food". That wise person neglected to expand on that wisdom to mention that visiting friends and family should be treated in the same vain.
Walking into a kitchen filled with laughter, friends and freshly fried spicy chicken can lead one to relinquish their birthright, let alone the waistline!
48 hours later, tapping away at the keys, an opportunity to order something to nourish myself, I read the label carefully and replaced the "crispy home made potato chips" for "a salad" which had the waiter actually get the order incorrect, or so I think. He genuinely brought the 180g beef patty with the chips. I denied knowledge of the crispy smelling spuds and reiterated that I ordered a salad. I suspect I don't look like the salad type.
I've faced the giant twice. I've flinched. I've not looked away. I am though not about to go looking for a bout with this giant as my suspicion tells me that a sneeze from them might put me down. The goal thus is to ensure I have supplies on me to ensure I don't fall prey to the palm oil.
This is not going to be a sprint. It reminds me of the ultra marathons I conquered and attempted to conquer. The mantra I shall take on this journey with is in the words of the Negro when he sang "We shall overcome some day".
