Healthy Cooking

The bitter gourd that you see here is grown organically. When we grow vegetables in our yard or even on the terrace or sit out, we will be assured that they are free of harmful chemicals. The only thing to note is that we should try our best to immediately consume such vegetables instead of storing them in refrigerators and the like. If we store organically grown vegetables for a long time, they can spoil easily because nothing extra is added to preserve them for lengthier periods.

Bitter gourd should be cleaned well and slit into two and sliced. It can be boiled and cooked along with salt and turmeric. It is a bitter vegetable. So, it might not be liked by all. Another alternative is to juice it and add it to soups or drink it as such. Bitter gourd can be sliced and smeared with spice powders and then stir-fried. My suggestion is to avoid excess oil.

Bitter gourd can be sliced into small rounds, boiled with salt, and then sun-dried. These Sun-dried veggies can then be fried in oil and had along with hot rice.

If you do not know much about organic vegetable farming, please read about it online or watch videos or you can ask doubts in the comment section and I will try my best to answer you.

Bitter gourd is a creeper plant and does not require high maintenance. It can be grown in any season. So, please try to procure the seed of the bitter gourd or any such vegetable that can be grown easily and try planting it. I am sure this is a small task that you will enjoy doing.

You can enrich the soil by adding micronutrients and then you will be able to get a rich harvest. Adding organic manure like cow dung, chicken manure (chicken poop), goat poop etc is good. These will be available in stores that sell such products.

Bitter melon, as we call it here in the USA, is great for gut health and digestive wellness.
