“so, when Jesus had tasted the sour wine, He said “it is finished!” And bowing His head, he gave up his spirit. John 19:30
You cannot complete a completed work, you cannot finish a finished work, in as much as you see something beautiful you cannot add more beauty to it. He cried out “it is finished!”. Our salvation is won. Our sins has been forgiven. We are made forever righteous by his blood. Christ paid perfectly and completely for our total sin, so that we will enjoy every righteousness and blessing in Him, and that blood over 2000 years ago still speaks for us. Before you were born you had already been forgiven.
The three letter words “it is finished”, comes from one Greek word teleo. In the days of Jesus, a servant will use the word to notify his master that the task I have been assigned to it has been completed. The significant of the word teleo is how merchant used it: “the debt is paid in full”. When Jesus gave up Himself on the cross, he met the full demands of the law. He paid our debt in full to grant us a seat in the sight of His father.
Christian living is not about doing, but believing in His finished work. Under the law, we must DO, under the grace it is DONE. Maybe you are facing an overwhelming odd today. Jesus promises “it is finished”. Its not now that you are going to be delivered but you have already been delivered. Isaiah 53:5 declares “By His stripes you are healed!”, its not now that you are going to be healed but you have been healed already. Christians are pregnant with Grace, keep resting in His finished works and it will manifest, He is the God that declare the end from the beginning.
The work is finished. The victory is already won. Our blessing is secured by His blood. Only believe it is finished. The only ticket to our salvation is when we accept Jesus Christ.
