Well, during Joseph's early years, his father seemed to favor Joseph for his honesty and reliability. His brothers were all getting yelled at for their lies and that ballooned into the sale of their brother into slavery, so....
I think it is likely. I also think that the crossing of his arm, coming in a future post, is symbolic of Jacob's own deception which was encouraged and of orchestrated by his mother. You see, Jacob was not the first born but he got the blessing of a first born.
