Hello Steemit! People are waking up!

in #helloworld8 years ago

I have been on here for a week and I have been looking for something like this for a while .

I'm Dee from the US. Like most people of my generation, I was taught to that college and mountains of debt were the only way to get ahead in life. A Masters and $40,000 later, I started to realize that not only would it take me years to pay it down with my current job, but it was very limiting in anything I wanted to do with my life. Even being very frugal, it was hard with almost 600 a month in student loans. I couldn't travel, and couldn't get anywhere near to owning my own home. I'm grateful for one thing though, the situation helped me wake up.

In 2015 I stumbled across information on Youtube/alt media, and it was a whole new world for me. I started to understand money and markets, food and GMO's, debt, Libertarianism, and so much more. 2 years later my whole mindset on how I perceive the world has changed, and it hasn't been easy, but it's worth it. Waking up family and friends has been an uphill battle, but I think that everyday that passes more and more people are waking up to debt slavery. When you cant keep the people dumb and happy, they'll start asking questions. I'm hoping to use any currency I make to paying down my student debt. Still learning as I go, but I'm hoping to join a community of like-minded thinkers . Anyway thanks for checking out this post.

Welcome to Steemit. I know your dilemma. I was around 40 when my student loans were paid off. I still had some undergrad debt when I borrowed some for graduate school. My wife & I married in our mid 30's and when we put our debt together we had a negative net worth. Many years later things are better, and with cryptocurrencies I invested funds things are really better.

I am still frugal...raising my own food as much as I can. Still work hard (7 days a week), although now considering cutting back a little. Convincing family and friends of your new focus works best by just living your life as you see fit and maybe they will catch on.

Hope you enjoy Steemit. Soooo much information and connections with people all over the world.
