Ellen Dayok Russell much loved sister, wife, mother and grandmother 10 September 1957 to 16 November 2018.
I've sat at the dining table for the past couple of hours thinking of what to write. How can I explain my mum in a few words and how can I express to whomever reads this how much mum meant to our family. I find it a little difficult setting up a gofundme page asking people who don't know my mum to support my family so we can give her the memorial she deserves. But I guess that's what gofundme is; a community that supports each other in a time of need.
Mum never asked for anything in life and whatever she had she was greatly appreciative. She was such a positive person full of energy and a selfless individual. When mum was diagnosed with stage 3 inoperable breast cancer 21 months ago our world came crashing down. But mum continued to be the person who everyone knew and loved. She was such an inspiration.
Mum was a devoted Catholic and despite what she was going through she never questioned her faith -I guess she believed the lord had bigger plans. Mums passion was her grandchildren. She absolutely adored each of them, taking photos of them at every chance she could and posting them on her Facebook account spamming her friends feeds.
Being a Catholic mum's final wish was to have a church ceremony and burial. My brother and I would love to help dad out financially as much as we can. However having our own children and the usual adult commitments it is not possible for us to contribute a material difference.
Dad isn't aware that I have setup a gofundme page to attempt to raise monies to put towards the cost of mums funeral. I can honestly say dad is struggling the most emotionally and that's to be expected as he lost his sole mate of 35 years. My brother, I and close friends have been there for him as much as we can but it's going to take time for his and our to pain to ease.
If we can ease the financial aspect, fantastic! No contribution is too small. As can be said a number of small donations will add up to one large contribution. If you are unable to donate please share this page.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Much love and peace out...
