From invasive weed to epic healing herb

in #herbolism7 years ago

Meet Japanese knotweed, a highly invasive speciese that years ago my grandmother was told was bamboo and allowed to grow in a section of the yard.

Since then its taken over a lot of space so we began yo try to reduce it to one specific area of the garden. Trying our best to remove it at the roots and clear it out.

(It broke my shovel in the process)

As always my curious mind began to wonder "what could the health benefits if the plant be and does it have any other uses?"

So we began a google study that led us down a whole new adventure in apothecary and culinary exploration. Its been used as a healing herb in asian culture for centuries, and has the same component in it that red wine does that makes it so highly praised for heart health.

Much of it appears to be able to help stimulate neurological healing for people who are having symptoms of alzeimers , as well as help treat Lyme discease.

A reminder that the old system of medicine didin't ask for money, it asked for us to learn about our planet a d discover that everything has its uses.

One persons vicious weed, is anothers healing herb. It just depends how we look at it all, and if we can see the positive amongst the negatives.

Sort:

Wow that's one powerful root! Sorry about your shovel, hope it wasn't the new one!

It was newisssh ~ but oh well.

Study time now. :) Even as an adult, love that life is a daily school adventure.

Hands on learning:
This is what homeschool is all about!!!!

Hey wait... didin't some one write a book "graduating life with honors?"
^_^~☆

I do wish we could all chat again, with this irl touring music stage show on the go....
But oh wells.

Its going to be fun chatting to our native friends about certain paralels... like that shttty land they can't use because its contaminated thanks to thr guys who took the land.

Man, could you imagine if they "took it back"
The way some others are trying to?

Empathy show on the go ♡
Thanks for tuning in!!!

More fun posting our adventures with you all here.

I have a dream of being able to buy crown land and give it back! <3 <3 I saw an article last year about a guy who did that...super inspiring!

Thats super sweet actually.♡

Guess we gotta make the moolah.
Thing is~ are any of us even the representation of our ancestors anymore?

I dream of a world where we renew everything in general where all cultures are taught that we do not own the land but we borrow it.

That all of us, no matter our DNA should have access to be free to live our lives and live in harmony with the land.

I sort of believe in reincarnation these days.. so any of our spirits could have been those ancestors who were treated so poorly back then and why we seek so deeply to restore balance now.

I tried to connect for reconcilliation back at the beginning of the idleno movement but was turned away for being a whitey.

Later having spoken to friends who are half who were also turned away for being what she called "an apple" ...."red on the outside white on the inside."

I love how the asian cultures simply opened up the door for all to learn and participate in...
Why don't we all celebrate and learn and protect these cultural things together in this new age?

And therr I go over thinking again....
Sorry TwT ♡ lmao

Follow your heart!!!
♡ Its gotten you this far.
