When flower, plant is opening it’s core, giving all it’s strength to express itself. So there must be some magic in it.
Immortelle has always been one of my favorite plants, definitely the reason is its scent. It is saturated and sweet but open in some way. It raises the mood, incredible, creating light pleasant euphoria. Or it is just me? ;)
Last year, I planted Helichrysum italicum in my rockery. It was a small plant that grown incredibly just in a year! Every time I walk by my rockery I enjoy its scent, and if I touch the plant, the scent stays on my fingers for long time. And if my cat is lying under it than I have a perfumed cat! It's just now in bloom. I plan to cut the flowers and dry them.
It is generally a plant of incredible healing properties. But what is interesting to me now is flower essence of Helichrysum, which is considered to stimulate positive transformation /change / creativity, connected with opening, truth and joy. It is helping to digest some stuck traumas. Nice. I like it! It is my flower this summer for sure! 😊
The Latin name is Helichrysum, which means golden sun, and is derived from ancient Greek (ἥλιος = sun, χρυσoῦς = golden).
English And French is Everlasting, Immortelle, which is not unusual considering that this plant has long been believed as non-fading plant, that lives forever.
And we call it Smilje, and I really can not find the origin of this word in our language! If anyone knows, please let me know.
😊
Helichrysum before flowering
It is really like golden sun when is in full bloom!
Thank you for your attention!

I don't know that particular plant but dried Helichrysum is burned in my country a cleansing smoke. It does have a good smell
Interesting. I have read somewhere that once, the blossoms were smoked as a preventative for asthma.
I know this plant.
But we have it is considered a weed. I did not even know that it smells good.
Helichrysum has several species.
We also call it "immortelle"
He is not prone to disease and is not damaged by pests.
Its seeds remain viable up to 10 years.
Yes, this plant is very resistant. This one, Helichrysum italicum, that grows in south of Croatian as a weed (but very respected one from people here) has special scent. I adore it. It can also grow in a little bit colder climate, like in my garden, so I'm happy to have it.
Maybe you have some other species of Helichrysum, and I do not know what it scent is. ...
There may be another species.
But, when I meet this plant, I will smell it.
