LEAP YEAR RESOLUTIONS & GOALS

Happy new year!

It's the first day of the year and we've hit the ground running haha. In fact, I was doing a bit of work when the clock turned 00:00, and the sound of the fireworks woke up all the dogs and children in my neighbourhood. I often say that, although being one of the shortest days in the northern hemisphere, it's the longest day of the year, as experienced by most people. Think about it... as you're reading this now, if it is still the 1st of Jan, it feels like its been the 1st for longer than one day right? That's what I mean.

Anyhow, it's just an arbitrary day. Nothing today actually changed cosmologically. It's just a day that was decided upon to be the first day of the year. In fact the time is wrong by a quarter of a day which we will correct for this year, next month, at the end of Feb.

I have an aunt that was born on the 29th of Feb. I have a reminder to wish her a happy birthday this year, as well as buy her a big present to compensate for the past 3 years. It's tricky buying presents for teenagers. Going buy how many birthdays she's had, she should be turning 16 this year 😅. What are good ideas for a 16 year old?

I saw a few runners on the way to the cafe today. Yes I'm at the cafe. I was going to work from home, but I was too unproductive so I decided to get out. Anyway, as usual, the new year resolutions people are already out running. The enthusiasm usually dies out by the first week, with about half the people having failed. By day 15, we're down by 95%. I'm planning to be one of the 5% that endure. I don't have new year resolutions per se, which is why I'm going to win haha. I just have general goals to achieve.

The difference between goals and resolutions is one is usually additive while the other is subtractive. Resolutions are often about things you will no longer do. I think this is why most of them fail. One of my goals is to be more physically fit. It's vague, but not really. I have some specific sub-gaols like the ability to do 100 pushups in one go. I think this is achievable and I know how to get there. Many years ago when I was much more athletic than I am now, it took me 1 month to achieve. I simply did a lot of pushups, as many as I could do, everyday. Th tactic was to beat yesterday's record. That was it. Just do better than yesterday. I expect it to take longer, since I'm older now, but sometimes around March, I should be pushing out 100 reps no probs. Right now, as a starting point, I think I can manage 20.

I have other goals, of course, including financial ones. This is bitcoin halving year. I'm planning to capitalise on that now that I am much, much wiser than last time. It's going to be fun.

I wish you all the best in 2024.

Peace & Love,

Adé

I need to get back into my running as I've had a few issues lately. I'd like to do more pushups. Something else to work on. I just want to have some achievements to look back on each year. I'm conscious of getting older.

I've learnt that the best way to "stay young" is just to never stop. I have friends in their 60s who can do hundreds of pushups no problem haha. This rainy weather isn't encouraging for running to be fair.

WHats up man :)) ... and Happy New year you also :)
Lets hope this 2024 going to be BIG :))

This is our year bro 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

Happy new year

Thank you !! 🫡🫡

The only thing bothering me is the holiday on Monday; feels like Sunday. It's gonna take a week to adjust back to normal xD

Happy New Year

LOL yeah. mind you most things here are open as usual. Only the offices are closed

Do you also run everyday or you’re not a runner at all?
Also, happy new year!

I used to run years ago. I only walk now. It's just as good, it just takes a little longer

The pushup goal sounds really good and honestly, I may copy it. I can only do about 5 so yeah I could use some pushups in my life hehe. The rubbish weather hasn't helped with outdoor-themed activities too which prevents me doing runs and long walks.

Happy new year buddy :)

Happy new year bro. Yeah its a good one. Just reminded me I'm yet to do todays haha. You'd be surprised how quickly your get stronger once you start.

It is always our target to do better than yesterday. 100 reps is possible however, it is a gradual process
Happy new year. This year is gonna be better and we are definitely going to achieve our goals too.

Very gradual haha. Same to you 🙏

Hahaha, it must be really cool to be so special to celebrate your birthday just once every four years, hehe. For a gift suggestion, I think getting her something that has to do with what she enjoys doing will be the best! Let's say if she's an hairstylist you should get her something related, hehe.

100 push ups is a lot but I'm sure if you take one step at a time the burden will be lighter.

Happy new year Ade 🥰

LOL yeah. haha it's special alright. It must have been hard as a child though :)
Happy New Year to you too

Yeah, seeing her mates celebrate their birthdays every year and she celebrates hers just once every three years. But I'm sure the older she gets the more she'd appreciate it 😂.

Thank you!

I still need to do some research on why the enthusiasm always die down after few weeks.
Happy new year dear friend

same to you bro

Happy new year!

Holly sh*t you're back!
..[pause, went to check your profile]

ah, you've been sort of back for a little while. Hope you're well and happy new year

Hahahah, I check in a few times a year. Far from being 'back' through 😅 Happy to see you here though! How is lifeeee?

Life is good, I can't complain. Made it through the hardest times now we are looking up 🙏

That's the most important thing 💪

New Year has started and we all have to think about our goals and then work day and night on them. If we do this then we will see success in the next life.

Happy new year 🌟
