The McGinty Mountain Trail
Is a five mile steep hike up the mountain offering impressive views and an opportunity to see many endangered plants. Along the trail there are some private homes, and abandoned mines. Because I had the baby with me on my drive into the hills, I was unable to get photographs of more than the trailhead on Lyons Valley Road.
From the head of the trail you can see this false summit about a mile into the hike ...
The real summit is about 4 more miles up the trail.
Near the parking lot there is the remnants of a home lost to fire ...
Signs in the area indicate that the ruins are in a closed area for the safety of the public and protection of the plant and animal life.
