Bought this kit on eBay, some photos of the build along with thoughts
Note: in the above photo I’ve changed the stock resistors from 300R to 220R this is due to the fact I have a pair of 6550 output valves installed
The output transformers seem pretty cheap but sound good! Power transformer was a bit noisy but I sorted this by added some rubber grommets between the transformer and the chassis, this helped things considerably.
I didn’t even bother wiring up the 100k volume pot that came with the kit as it was about the size on my little fingernail, very cheap PCB mount thing! I went ahead and spent £20 on a ALPS 100k from Hi-Fi collective in the UK.
After I finished the build I hooked the amp up to the scope, with a 1Khz sine I measure around 6W per channel clean output, not bad – plenty of power for a small room with reasonably efficient speakers.
