Do you consider yourself a "jumpy" person?
Although I like to think of myself as a tough guy (I'm not at all), I'm often startled by non-threatening things. Take this picture, for example.
Last week, I was walking on a nearby trail when I saw a snake crawling towards me. I was reading a book on my phone, which I love to do while walking, and I saw the creature coming from my left. I jumped and moved over into the woods to make sure I could see what type of snake it was before running for my life. It was a...spraypaint snake.
In other words, it wasn't a snake at all -- just a poorly drawn S or 5 on the trail.
I wonder whether someone shot that snake :D you 'mericans like to do stuff like that.
I jumped a bit to a fox I have seen once. But I came close and saw that it wasn't that dangerous...
Looks like a snake. At dusk the other night I saw a giant owl perched just over my head in some trees off the trail. Was the closest I’ve ever gotten to an owl, it just stared its big creepy non blinking eyes right through me. Startled me a little, would’ve snapped a pic but I never take my phone with me on walks so I can get some time off the screen.
I appreciate that. Maybe I'm not going crazy. Oh man. Owls are no joke. I saw one around here for half a second then it hid. There are some owl houses but you don't ever see them since they're only out at night usually.
Owls are everywhere around here, but this was the first time I’ve ever seen one stay dead still so close to a person. Was about dusk so was probably just getting ready for the hunt. Eyes as big as baseballs
