Hindus are indisputably entitled to rank among the most ancient of existing nations, as well as among those most early and most rapidly civilized....ere yet the Pyramids looked down upon the Valley of the Nile...
when Greece and Italy, these cradles of modern civilization, housed only the tenants of the wilderness, India was the seat of wealth and grandeur..."
- Count Maurice Maeterlinck.
He (1862-1949) was a Belgian writer of poetry, a wide variety of essays. He won the 1911 Nobel Prize for literature.

India was the richest country in the world before British rule. East India Company came to the richest country in the world to do trade just like people today are flocking the USA, the land of opportunities.
This is Macaulay's speech in the British Parliament on 2nd February 1835, "I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native self-culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."
I would love to write a post on how the British destroyed Indian economy and many other ancient Indian topics. I posted my first post on steemit today and would appreciate if you reesteem my post. This will be a great encouragement to a newbie like me. @logical-hindu
@sateeshkalyan Can you name some important things non-Hindus should know about Hinduism?
