Jay-Z vs. Nas AND WHY Jay-Z fans will never accept Defeat

Jay-Z vs. Nas

This battle will never end because of the simple fact of the two dynamics in hip hop. In one instance you have one of the greatest (if not the greatest) lyricist of all time. In the next instance, you have the most financially successful artist of all time. They both split the coin in regards to what people in hip hop admire the most. Even though these MC's are legends in their own right, I think that they stand at opposing end of the hip hop pole.

Jay-Z is far from conscious and so every time he drops anything of significance, it's surprising but yet frowned upon. the frustration might come from the people kind of knows that he has this all the time in it but consciously chooses to ignore it.. I believe people have grown to resent Jay-Z for his lack of empathy for the everyday lifer.

Nas on the other hand is mostly conscious and if he sways too far into materialism he now is frowned upon by his fans and peers. It's just not Nas. Materialism is not his lane because now if he chooses that as his subject matter, he appears a bit hypocritical. His thing is to speak on the "people's situation and make it sound as dope and as ill as possible.

On our show, these are the kinds of conversations that we have. We don't just give you the typical spill, we really try to examine things from a deeper perspective while asking the why's and hows. We invite everyone to check out our podcast and stay tuned for more culturally conscious conversations.

Good piece. I'm more of a golden ager, so I've always preferred Nas. Never really warmed much to Jay Z.

My man. Me and you are on the same page. lol

firstly... in a battle; the rapper who responds always has an advantage over the guy who attacks first because he can respond to what was said.... Jay Z attacked first.... secondly, Nas dropped a whole song dedicated to Jay Z in response to Jay Z's 'takeover' ... in takeover Jay Z dissed a lot of cats, it wasn't just dedicated to Nas.... and thirdly, they are Lyrically on Par; their content is just different ... just my opinion

Thanks Mickey, I appreciate your opinion bro. Stay tuned for more content and we have plenty more UNplugged Radio on the way.
