Hi Friends;
I live in Turkey and I travel to historical and natural places continuously. People talked a lot about Mardin and I went to this historical city of Turkey. If you like historical buildings, you should visit Mardin where is famous with its historical stone houses. Mardin is a city in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. There are historical buildings and places in almost all cities of this region. Mardin is only one of them.
These houses are a symbol of traditional life in Mardin. Stone houses have interesting and clever architecture. All of the houses do not close the view of the other houses. Because, all of houses have got a terrace. These houses also have semi open and open courtyards, terraces, large balconies, furnace and mezzanine floors.
Mardin stone houses are made of yellow limestone. These stones can be easily shaped. So, the patterns were easily given to the stones in B.C. 1365-1020 by Assyrians. In the past, this city has hosted many civilizations. The design of houses is similar to the letters "L" and "U". Houses still maintain the same characteristics today. And many tourists visit this city every year.
