With a lot of witness reports going around lately, thought I'd write down some stuff that I've been working on as a curator and a frequent poster to my followers and the platform.
Time have been crazy lately, not just cause of the SBD spike, but the general attention cryptocurrencies are finally receiving. Seems like mainstream adoption is just around the corner and sooner or later everyone will be drawn to it. Feels good to have invested a lot of time onto the platform and be ready to welcome everyone, especially since this blockchain is one of the most advanced and can handle all the new traffic coming in!
I recently had a look at blocktivity.info and Steem is closing in on new record heights in transaction traffic again!
Bitcoin and Ethereum are both struggling with unconfirmed transactions already while the Steem network is only at 0.32% capacity with a team already working on scaling it further! Really exciting times to say the least.
With big attention it means that the blockchains are also getting more and more people wanting to work towards them, we've seen how active utopian is getting and the amount of new developers coming in which we have been lacking for a long time. The progress is nearing exponential levels and with new users and ideas and work load they will be reaching them faster and faster.
It's a bit funny that we have been discussing the curation rewards to post rewards lately and how and if we should change it on the blockchain level as to give curators more incentive to curate better and not just on the most popular authors for increased curation rewards - even though often they miss out on higher rewards cause they end up being the last to vote on popular authors, but that's lazy autovoting curators for you. What's funny is that now with Steem Dollars being worth more than $10 each it seems the gap has become even bigger. I'm sure we are going to find a more fair divide with experimentation, and I doubt the price of Steem Dollars will remain this high for too long.
It gives a good jump start in funding for all the new potential ideas and projects on Steem though, so I hope frequent posters are taking advantage of that - I know I will.
Ever since I joined Steemit and got active there have been very few days where I haven't cast a vote and I've never used bots to vote for me. As a long time Redditor I felt that the curation incentives the platform gives will be huge in the future - no other platform rewards you to curate actively. Not to mention with more stake depending on your SP instead of 1 vote just being worth 1 which leaves a lot of leeway to game the platform as we have seen being done on Reddit often by bots and so called "vote selling services" which are completely different than the ones we have here.
I started a curation trail early on, it was around the same day that Streemian launched. This was back before delegations existed and it allowed bigger accounts to follow my manual votes knowing I will be distributing the votes wide and doing good with them. To this day I have cast over 42,000 manual votes on the platform and I've only had to change my mouse once!
After delegations I felt I needed to improve my manual voting activity to be able to focus it better on undervalued authors for retention. One curator can only have a certain amount of hours in a day and the influx of new users was becoming overwhelming. So I went out and created the curation project @ocd. With the help of 10 other curators at the start who also received some delegation from me, we have now grown to nearly 40 and have selected around 1,000 unique authors that we have curated and supported.
During all that I've stayed up to date on chats, trying to give everyone a minute to curate their posts while chatting with other active Steemians. Stayed up to date with changes, how everything works and some technical details about the blockchain even though I am not so tech-savvy my self. The userbase is becoming so big that they are being spread all over different chats, steemit.chat, discord, slacks - there are Steemians everywhere and everyone belonging to their own community while everyone is waiting for communities to arrive to the platform. :)
In the meantime I've also focused a lot on mentioning Steem on other platforms, especially during times where the currency wasn't doing so well price-wise. I could've been posting away earning that cheap 10 cent Steem Power like many others were doing, but I decided it would be best to try and get as many new people on here and writing as possible - especially those that did listen and have now landed on something awesome thanks to me and have been rewarded because of it. It's kind of funny that I skipped earning that cheap Steem at 10x lower price yet now I'm able to buy it back at 10x the price of SBD, feels like a second chance of growing my account and for many others as well.
Like I said in a recent post, its completely understandable for users to make the most out of the current SBD prices, I see it as a good way of redistributing Steem Power and it will be very healthy for the platform in the long run. The investors that have been around for a long time and are now powering down are helping distribute the Steem, I'd say keep the price lower for longer even so we have a healthy distribution which is a very strong aspect for a decentralized community - one that not many can say they also do have.
I am glad that @ocd is getting a bit more support lately and that not a big portion of my daily voting power has to go towards it as it will give me a lot of room to spread them out more and start funding some projects on the Steem blockchain that will hopefully become an important part of it in the future. I've promised some of you a new project that I've been working on for some time and I hope to be able to deliver it soon and that the community will love it.
So stay tuned for that and keep on Steeming!
Wow! What an insane amount of manual votes! It is great that you are doing this along with @ocd!
Steem is about to have a big upward move soon. We are almost to smt time! With btc and eth not being able to handle all the transactions, we are looking better and better every day
The current SBD price is a good motivation for the steemit community I can see that people are posting a lot more then before. Sadly I can't have a new project which is eating a lot of time but I am giving my best to do 4-5 post per week.
Keep up the good work with OCD and all the other projects you are doing on steemit and thanks for all you do to make the community better :)
LOVE&LIGHT
i am totally agree with you.and i want to say something like senior and experience guy on steemit like you and others, please encourage and help people who are new on steemit.they will get confident.and i also feel that steemit will be no. 1 social site among all in near future.@danyelk @acidyo @danyelk
Awesome work you have done for the platform. I don't think I would have still been here if it wasn't for OCD so thanks a lot ! Persistence is the key, your old computer mouse knew this fact as well hehe
Everyone has heard that STEEM has very high inflation, and users should convert to Steem Power to protect against it. Do people really understand what that means though? To put it in another way, the price of STEEM is meant to go down. Granted it is going down faster today than it should/will under 'normal' conditions, but that is mainly because of several factors which make today's situation kind of unique:
The network is in a distribution phase, which means it is purposely inflating STEEM at a faster rate than 'normal'.
Many of the early adopters are powering down and cashing out to capitalize on their initial investment, as well as fund projects that they believe will add value to the project in the long-term.
The July price spike caused the network to produce a lot more SBD than the platform was arguably 'worth' at the time. There is now a very large amount of debt that the network must pay back.
There is still not a very big demand for STEEM/SP yet, because the product is not ready for mainstream users, and there is not much to combat the inflation by generating more demand (like through advertisements) other than speculative investing, and users wanting to work their way up to dolphin/whale status.
This is not true anymore since around 8 months ago.
well i think your right sir.. everything changes..
I take the piss with you quite often but you better know I respect your attitude and dedication towards this platform and the community more than almost anyone.
When I first started here, you can buy steem for around 1SBD each. I even converted some SBD to steem. Now SBD has sky rocketed and how I wish I have kept all my SBDs before and withdraw it with today's value! Haha but seriously,I am so glad that I found Steemit! This is really a great opportunity to earn and to learn more about blockchain and other cryptocurrencies. Thanks for being so dedicated here in Steemit. You inspire small minnows like me. ❤
Wow! @acidyo, this is a good work you are doing here on Steemit with @ocd and via your motivational and analytical posts.
That your screenshot from blocktivity.info is really accurate. I think @lukestokes also talked about that yesterday. 0.32% of Steem blockchain's capacity is being used ...so much space for more...
While bitcoin is old and bloated...steem is young and lean...ready to grow and hit the moon.
I'm particularly excited about these new price hikes of SBD. Its inadvertently serving as a pivot to lift steem up. I just love that.
Cheers @acidyo!
More SBD and SP to us all...
I need to buy more Sbd and accumulate steempower.
Good work @acidyo .
Informative content.
Keep up the good work buddy
If you doubt about the high price of sbd will not be too long then I guess I will need convert all of my remaining sbd before its price went back to its original price.
Don't use the "conversion" option in your wallet. It will give you steem as if SBD is at $1. Trade them in the inner market instead.
Use market option better I think.
yes haha thanks for reminding me.. I have learned my lesson using the conversion before and i regret it haha..definitely trading it too market. thanks.
anything can happen to curypto
Please don't SPAM... take a look in this before hurting your reputation.
You really are a curation boss, @acidyo! Thanks for everything you do!
The most exciting piece of information to me in your post: The Steem Network is only at .32% capacity... That's incredible.
I love that when SBD is so high, even my measly upvote can be worth up to 50 or 60 cents. I have really been trying to focus on curation (and powering up) the last few days.
We're pretty fortunate; glad to be along for the ride!
Can't wait to see what you have been working on!
Steem takes only 3 seconds for transaction.. Faster than any other cryptocurrency and transaction fee is zero.. These advantages make Steem special! In future Bitcoinwhale will love to use Steem for big transaction!
0.32% capacity means 312.5x more people can use steemit with no upgrades required. Thats an awesome fact all by itself!
good blog
Please don't self-vote on comments like these on my posts.
By Bitcoin becoming mainstream this will help Steemit get noticed better. The more people know about bitcoin and start trading bitcoin the more users we will attract to steemit. It is just a matter of time until Steemit becomes mainstream and I see no reason why it will not happen. I think steem will easily hit over $10 dollars in the near future.
Lol. What's the @ocd project?? Where did you get the delegations from?? I also wanted some delegations to help the newbies of my country.
Hi. Here is a way to be noticed by the OCD team:
https://steemit.com/ocd-resteem/@ocd/ocd-introducing-ocd-resteem-get-resteemd-by-ocd
Anyway, I'm one of those 1000 authors helped by the great @OCD team. Can you make your account on https://steemit.chat/home (using the same name) and find me (the same name)? I'm still very small and cannot give you any delegation, but because you care about the newbies of your country, maybe I can come up with some solutions and help. Can we talk on chat?
Yes sir you are really right my opinion is also same for this community I have also mentioned it in my previous posts this is a best platform by which we can earn for our basic needs thank you for sharing your experience with all of us @acidyo
It's great that the overall crypto-currencies are getting the attention they finally deserved. I'd say that people like you and me making financial returns is a small part of how things are playing globally. Sincerely hope that platforms like Steemit can help to narrow the gap and reduce inefficiency.
Once again ,thank you for your work, Acidyo!
Not to mention with more stake depending on your SP instead of 1 vote just being worth 1 which leaves a lot of leeway to game the platform as we have seen being done on Reddit often by bots and so called "vote selling services" which are completely different than the ones we have here.*
We're getting there , though :(
It won't be the same way anyway. On Reddit you can buy 1000 votes for like $10. These 1000 votes are equal as if 1000 unique curators have voted on your submission.
Here they have to invest a lot more to be able to buy the same outcome and if its complete garbage it can get downvoted and make it not worth it.
very great post men i like this post
your analyses are good about motivating me on that platform. @acidyoAnd getting some fresh knowledge about steem, steemit and blockchain gives more encourage
Congratulation for success on Steemit. It is all about passion and commitment.
Thanks. I did not know of @ocd will look it up and hope to concentrate more on writing for steemit.
Thanks for the info. Great layout and lots of useful info. DR
Really looking forward to your announcement @acidyo. There is an expression in Ireland "Head down and pull like a dog". All the good work pays off in the end. Enjoy the SBD Bonanza. I wish had more to convert.
That's a lot and intresting to know about how @OCD evolved, I researched about ocd for one of my post but haven't found it anywhere on OCD page, thnx for sharing ☺
I think steem will be a treasure in this modern era. and that's good for all of us :)
It is nice what you do for the platform, not everybody is investing their time here for the sake of others. Mostly people are trying to receive STEEM only for themselves and not doing anything for anybody else. You even made OCD to help curating and not only this. I guess that if the platform grows, then we are growing together. Congrats!
Yep, took the advice (plus helpful documents on how to use the internal market) and I'm starting to pump things into SteemPower. Looking forwards to the old up arrow doing more and more now.
Excellent work you done here in steemit platform. I much appreciated your providing work on steemit.
I'm so excited currently steem dollar pumping. Yesterday I saw it was passed over $13 in steemit blockchain. Also via Bittrex transactions SBD was $17. I don't know and don't understand why would be price rise up. Then happened huge traffic in trade market. I trust always steem.
@acidyo, SBD price will be rise more. Then I ask you from question. In this condition SBD hodl can be better or non better. I seriously trust hodl better and can use inner market for trading.
Awesome job doing @ocd for curation task.
Keep going and stay blessed.
This is an incredibly exciting time. I don't have as much time free for curation or creation as I would like, but I keep on plugging away. Steem is a crypto that even someone not very tech savvy (like me) can earn and I love that. I love to see folks like you who are invested in growing the platform and are looking toward the long-term success of it.
As an author with little influence here, I've been the beneficiary of your @ocd several times and am very grateful for that effort. I can honestly say I know from personal experience it helps retention ;)
Thank you!
Hi @acidyo, I wish I had your dynamism... maybe there're more than 24 hours in your days?
As i told in other comments, i'm investing all my SBD to power up... trying to exploit this situation.
I will to grow with steemit and this is the moment to build up a solid basis for steemit development in future..
I didn't know the steem blockchain had such high traffic capacity, it gives me even more confidence in it's future. I also didn't now all the history behind your curating, it's nice to see all that effort rewarded.
It's posts like these and bloggers like you who will help pave the way for the steemit community. I joined a month ago and I've posted EVERY SINGLE DAY. I read all the posts and leave thoughtful comments. We need more people like me and you on this platform. I'm thinking about promoting steemit on Facebook because that's where I discovered it myself.
I write well and post all original art and music that I create, and am trying to be as active as possible. My numbers have been going up, but I feel like I'm still not reaching many people. I am perhaps just anxious to find a platform where I can share my art and it gets in front of people who will appreciate it. It's hard to find others who also post good content, but I will check your page out.
Very interesting post ! :)
ok, got it.
I agree that mainstream adoption is just around the corner. I was just telling preparedwombat that someone I've been nagging about crypto for a year contacted me with some questions three days ago. Now she's got a wallet. Things are shifting.
Yeah, good job done for the time being @acidyo . Hat's off
Joined steem only 2 months ago. Being a photographer, all those crypto-currency markets always were out of my attention or knowledge. The beginning here is not easy, but really adding my experience to this the platform starting to bring dividends when posting quality content regularly.
Show must go on!
This post is interesting. you have my upvote & resteem on this post .... keep it up my friend looking forward to your next post
first-rate paintings you have carried out for the platform. I do not suppose i would have nonetheless been here if it wasn't for OCD so thank you a lot ! staying power is the key, your antique laptop mouse knew this truth as properly heheMany of the early adopters are powering down and cashing out to capitalize on their initial investment, in addition to fund projects that they trust will add value to the undertaking inside the long-term.
The July price spike triggered the community to supply lots more SBD than the platform changed into arguably 'really worth' on the time. there may be now a very massive quantity of debt that the community ought to pay returned.
there's nonetheless no longer a completely large call for for STEEM/SP yet, because the product isn't always ready for mainstream customers, and there isn't a whole lot to fight the inflation through generating extra demand (like via classified ads) apart from speculative investing, and customers looking to paintings their manner as much as dolphin/whale fame.
You are doing a good job for the community @acidyo especially for the new undevalued users that needs some support for their work so they would not leave. I hope most people with a good sp amount does what you do.
Now also with SBD price reaching enormous price gains some would take the opportunity to power up like me and I will take the same path that you are walking on one day.
Your story inspired us...Thanks for share
Thus price increase is insane. Like you said a lot of large players are moving into steem. But we need to think about what this will do to sp, what would be the value in sp when sbd shoots up.
Steem network is only at 0.32%? That is pretty insane.
You certainly give logical points about distributing Steemit and how it might help in the future. I am, however, a bit worried that this is a bubble that can burst.
Thats so good that you have kept going on this platform through hardwork and helping the community out here on Steemit by your curation efforts. Seems like this platform breeds a healthy community to want to help each other out. Tho i am new to this platform which was also introduced by a friend @Ivan.atman, I am positive about the platform n have been asking my friends to also join the community especially regarding what i love, music and arts etc. There is still much to learn n I hope Steem will continue to pickup and continue to breed a positive environment of helping each other out :)
Thank you @acidyo
Much thanks - will follow you!
I can say what a valuable asset thoughtful curation is. I run @eastcoaststeem a curation account for primarily US east coast Steemians. Going down and thoughtfully curating them all can take hours but it really helps new Steemians esoecially at a regional level. It has been great, eye opening, cool way to meet new Steemians, and a lot of fun to me actually. With increased momentum hoping to gain ground towards east coast steem meetups & more. I'm certainly glad I have a solid footing in the door before crypto goes mainstream mainstream! You raise a good point there.
Congratulations @acidyo!
