I m not quite sure I understand the point you are trying to make. Regarding human interaction and trade, a money, a medium of exchange is extremely useful. The less developed stage of such trade would be barter.

Sure! The point I am trying to make is simply this. All evidence of actual history that we know of (which is pretty small compared to the things we don't know) points to pre-medium-of-exchange societies not bartering.
Which makes this an assumption, and when you consider the tenacity at which this assumption is currently rooted into our modern idea it can bring up some rather frustrating and untenable thoughts about our own stories.
I certainly haven't done the Book justice here, but Debt: the first 5000 years by David Graeber is a great read.
