The Taj Mahal is located in the vicinity of the city of Agra, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, and was built in the seventeenth century. Incredible architectural feat, his immortal beauty is nourished by the ancient love between an emperor and his wife.

Shah Jahan met his beloved Arjumand in a bazaar where she sold crystals. Admired for his beauty, he was not able to speak to her at first. Persecuted by the armies of his father the Emperor, and because of that relationship, after two wives and five years since that first encounter, they united in marriage. Arjumand became known as Mumtaz Mahal, "the chosen one of the palace".

The new emperor was in Burhanpur, in a military campaign, when he received news that his wife had complications in the thirteenth birth. Sha Jahan did not think twice and, desperate and with an anguish that stopped his heart, returned to the side of his wife to spend their last moments with her, held his hand gently in his and said goodbye more bitter of his life.

The emperor was not the same anymore. He retreated to the Red Fort, on the left bank of the Yamuna River, and there he passed, locked up by his son, the last years of his life, leaving the Empire in the hands of his successors. In front of the Fort, visible from all its windows and on the other side of the river, he ordered to build the most impressive Mausoleum that a human mind could ever conceive.

The best builders, the best workers, the best jewels, the best stones ... Everything was little for the resting place of his beloved; even, the Yamuna was diverted so that the Taj Mahal could be reflected in its waters. And there, after two decades of construction, in 1648, his beloved Mumtaz Mahal was buried. Next to her, the emperor himself was buried years later so that they would always rest together, eternally.
