Year 1898 Philippines colonized the United States. The Philippine people's resistance, among others, occurred in 1899, because they initially thought the Americans would give independence if they helped defeat Spain. In 1916, however, the United States government granted autonomy to the Philippines by the issuance of the "Jones Act" of 1919, Manuel Queson demanding full independence of giving the dominant status to the Philippines. Philippine independence was granted to the Philippines on July 4, 1946, with its first president Manuel Raxos.
