Steemians,
On this segment of important people in history, I will be talking about the great John F. Kennedy.
As I am sure most of you know, JFK was the 35th president of the United States of America. Among many things, he was well known for negotiating the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and initiating the Alliance for Progress. JFK was assassinated in 1963, which remains as one of the biggest events in US history.
Below are some of JFK's biggest achievements.
- Awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism during World War II
- He took the U.S. economy out of recession through his reforms
- He established the Peace Corps in 1961
- JFK averted nuclear war through his negotiations with Soviet leader Khrushchev
- He worked towards civil rights for African Americans
JFK Quotes:
- "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country"
- "Too often we... enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."
- There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range of risks of comfortable inaction."
Have a great Monday Steemians and don't forget to reflect on the great people of our pastime.
