You can see here Japanese skimmie, which is also known under the scientific name Skimmia japonica and originally comes from the cooler mountain regions of Japan and it can also be found in China or Korea. The first records of Skimmia in Europe can be traced back to the 19th Century and now it is a popular houseplant that can cope with cool temperatures without any problems and thrives best in a shady location. In the wild form in Japan, it can grow a few meters high, but most breeding varieties grow to a maximum of 50 - 100 cm high and are also frost-hardy depending on the species and white flowers turn out of the red inflorescences in spring. There are male and female types of skimmia and pollination usually works by insects and those who have it as a houseplant can pollinate the plant with the help of a brush. It thrives best in gardens on well permeable soils and in shady places and it is also ideal as a balcony plant and perfect for compact locations and is a great enrichment due to the colorful appearance. Also from a symbolic point of view, it is important and a typical sign of happiness or prosperity and in the place where it stands, it can help to increase the vibrations.
