Carved between the years 1250 and 1500. Nearly half are still at Rano Raraku, the main moai quarry
There are 250 platforms with Moai statues on them spaced approximately one half mile apart to create an almost unbroken line around the perimeter of the island.
The tallest moai erected, called Paro, was almost 10 metres (33 ft) high and weighed 90.4 tons.

If completed the tallest moai would have been approximately 21 m (69 ft) tall, with a weight of about 270 tons!

wow nice post love the pic i wish easter island wasn,t hard to visit i want to been there to see beauty of easter island
Wooh, you got a profile picture. It's crazy how remote it is and how the statues exist in isolation from the world!
I wish Easter Island wasn't hard to visit. Perhaps one day
I can imagine it's pretty pricy to get there as it is so remote. I think it's pretty open compared to other historic places, you can just roam free among the statues there. I hope to go some day too!
I have a rapa man on a post at my beach house. (he's my protection). Fascinating culture there. It’s on my bucket list to go there. The one I have came from Home Depot (building supply’s). It’s about 1 meter high, made of fiber cement material.
That's sick, I would love to see a picture of it. Sounds awesome.
Here's the photos on the HomeDepot web site, for the one I have at my beach house:
It lists at C$140, and is Constructed from NuCrete , a durable fibre reinforced concrete.
