I want to introduce you to this Tortoise named ALAGBA (The elder One). It is a 330 year old land tortoise which is believed to be the longest living Tortoise on Earth.
The Tortoise can be found at the Palace of a Town called Ogbomoso, Oyo State, South Western Nigeria.
Local people say that Alagba was conveyed to the royal residence around three centuries back by Soun Ikumoyede Ajao, the third Soun of Ogbomoso. Soun Ikumoyede Ajao was apparently conceived in the late sixteenth century and ruled since 1770 to 1791.
Alagba is said to be monitored by the Soun of Ogbomoso himself, and three guardians: Mr Adeniyi Alagbe, Mr Abdulahi Bello and Baba Iyabo. They say the creature, whose weight is more than 100kg, eats three times each day and its suppers are set up alongside individuals' nourishment in the castle.
It was also gathered that the animal used to be confined and binded for its protection from hoodlums. Tragically, the bondage affected its legs and punctured its shell.
Though this claim is still being awaited to be verified by the Guiness book of world records, many tourists from around the world that has visited still wish that they can take him away with them.
Where is this info coming from? Really curious to learn more!
The tortoise is still live in Nigeria as i speak, making it a reality and not just myth.
