In Ancient Rome, the patricians were the noblemen, the aristocrats, and the ruling class and plebeian were the free Romans and were the workers, the farmers, builders, merchants, artisans, and the commoners who were not members of the patrician, senatorial or equestrian classes. Although some plebeians were wealthy, they were not regards as elite and had very little individual power. In Ancient Rome it was speculated that there were about 40,000 people and patricians were five percent of the entire Roman population which was about 2000 peoples and 95% were the plebian. There was significant discrimination between patricians and plebeian. Patricians had the good life they were rich and they owned the best land, they were the only ones who could vote and the only ones who could serve as senators and they were the only people who could serve as consuls who were the military leader where vast majority of the population were plebian were not allowed to participate in early Roman republic and excluded from all privileges of public office and government positions. But plebeians were the most important part of Rome because they were the 95% majority of the entire Roman population and did very important work, they were the farmers, they served in the military and they were the workers throughout this city of Rome that was growing. They kept running the entire Roman economy and the society and military but ruled and exploited by a tiny percentage of plebian. As they were important part of Roman society and after many years of trying to get voting power plebian finally decided to march out of the city of Rome and they set out to form a new settlement, to become an independent people with their own land and they refused to come back until their demands were met and their demands were they wanted to be able to vote, they wanted fair pay for their work and to be able to serve in government positions like the Senate and actually be a part of making laws.
The famous Roman emperor Antoninus Pius (19 September, 86 AD – 7 March, 161 AD)!
The patricians realized that they could not afford this loss so they reconsidered the harsh laws and removed the plebeian debt and escaped from imprisonment the prisoners due to the reason of debt. The patricians also allowed for the first time, a plebeian participation in state affairs. At that point the patricians and the plebeians eventually have the same amount of power throughout ancient Rome they were on equal footing and both of them were able to vote, able to serve in the Senate and serve as consuls thus created the true republic.
