So, are you referring to the Romans from the Republican age? Or from the imperial age? The first were all about mos maiorum, "no bullshit style"; they probabily wouldn't understand the lack of action and courage in the current Italian society and politics. Moreover, since their constructions are still standing after earthquakes, invasions etc. they would probabily wonder what's wrong with us: so many houses and buildings crumbled like sandcastles in the last period!
