Humans are creatures of habit and it is no wonder that many things such as icons from ancient times influenced the icons and arts of modern times.
Maybe that played a big part in the hand downs from generations to generations of artworks and themes used.
Same as with the types of artwork through the more modern eras, all the way to architecture, where we see hundreds of years of one style and then it changes later on through the centuries, but again incorporating aspects from the past trends.

It's true that iconography is borrowed from the past as religions form/morph in a particular region and we can see that throughout history. It's when you have similar depictions and beliefs with previously unconnected regions that you have to ask the question regarding an historically distant, common source.
I doubt we'll ever know the truth barring a visitation from above but it really is interesting delving into these histories and hopefully exposing some people here on Steemit to the fascinating histories found around the world.

Yeah, it is kind of interesting to see that people in lets say South America had similarities in some things that went on in lets say Egypt or Persia, just as an example.
But then again, all the continents of today were once just one big land mass and the findings of human bones down in nowadays South Africa that date back to God knows when have debunked the theory of "evolution" from ape to human, as the bones are older than those of the extinct species that existed i.e. cromagnum and what ever other names the dudes were given by "historians" that looked humanoid along the path of the so called chain from ape to human.
So there are many things out there that we are yet to learn and accept after decades and centuries of "history" written by "historians" that are all slowly and surely being debunked as science uncovers the truth.
I fully support your efforts, step by step, it is another step in the process.
