Brief History of Taganito National High School (TNHS)

in #history7 years ago

The foundation of Taganito National High School started during the term of former Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Mamerto C. Galanida. On June 29, 1997, Mrs. Ricarda Gigayon, the Head Teacher of Claver National High School called for a consultative meeting for all teachers together with the head of four recipient barangays namely, Damaso Cruiz , Punong Barangay of Cagdianao, Alfredo D. Cuartero of Barangay Hayanggabon and Maximo Dagasdas of Barangay Taganito to open a new school due to the growing population of Claver National High School coming from the nearby towns and barangays. It was agreed by the body that the proposed school would be situated at Brgy. Taganito since most of the students came from this mining community. This lessened to the burden on fare on going to & fro Claver National High School and the efforts on a 20-minute travel as well.

On July 2, 1997, the Taganito National High School has come into existence as an annex school of Claver National High School through the collaborative efforts of the GPTA President Mr. Dominador Malaga Sr., Brgy. Captain Maximo Dagasdas and Diosdado Acido, former mayor of Claver.

In its initial year of existence, there were two (2) classrooms built from the DPWH fund utilized by 1st year and 2nd year respectively. Two teachers were hired namely Jocelyn A. Terezo (then Jocelyn Ajos) and a BLGU paid teacher Mrs. Josephine Dagasdas. (credits to MR. EMILIO ZAURA)

Education
Taganito National High School students participate in a challenging, preparatory curriculum, from junior high to senior high school, with ample opportunities for individual learning and personal growth.
The use of advanced technology tools like computer in ICT rooms, has made TNHS a forerunner among secondary grade schools for modern learning.

We encourage Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) for teaching students, because it is student-centered, it’s a system of teaching that focuses on student activity rather than on traditional classroom lectures.
