Berlin Natural history museum or (Museum für Naturkunde) is the most popular museum in Berlin housing one of the largest dinosaur skeletons in the world. It is so large I could barely see the top never mind get a shot of it on my camera. There is also a different variety of collections spanning from Zoological, paleontological, mineralogical and even astronomy for the space fans out there, so you can imagine it was a very fun educational day. It also offers a little bit for everyone.
As soon as you enter you are welcomed by a huge colossal 13.27 metre tall Brachiosaurus. In this incredibly bright room it offers many different skeletons and fossils of prehistoric animals and also has fun interactive tools for children and big children of course, this is where you get to see the animals come to life in front of you.
For the dinosaur fans out there you will be happy to know it also has a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex. This 12 metre long dinosaur fossil is said to be one of the best preserved specimens in the world and of course this has it’s own exhibition room where you can take a walk around and observe it’s scary skeleton and also take a close look at it’s 1.5 metre skull and fearsome teeth, you want to take your time looking at this one it’s fascinating.
It not only has dinosaurs roaming the rooms it also has millions of different types of animals and insects, you can see you need a bit of time in this Museum it just has so much to see!!!
The exhibition for the solar system is actually quite small considering the scale of it however it has a great cinema display where you lie nearly horizontal and watch it from above, it explains about the big bang and the solar system. I noticed it was all in German but it’s still nice just to watch, maybe it does show in English too but don't hold me on that.
Now for me the most spectacular room in the museum was the huge mineral collection. As a young girl I used to buy little mineral gem stones from gift shops, I was just so in love with the different colourS, textureS and sparkles even if they do just look like rocks. So to see 1,000 different types on display was just heaven for me. But don't take my word for it check it for yourself I took enough pictures of them.
It shows on the labels where each one came from too.
Incredible Right? This was hands down my favourite what was your favourite?
I hope this let you see through my eyes this great museum and what it has to offer if you never get the chance to see it well most of it is here for you so I hope you enjoyed it all.
