"Hero Of Belarus" - Uladzimir Karvat

in #history7 years ago

Vladimir Karvat-Lieutenant Colonel of aviation, who was the first to be awarded (posthumously) the state order "Hero of Belarus" for courage and heroism in the performance of his duty. This is the highest rank, which is awarded exclusively to people for exceptional service, as well as to show extraordinary courage in emergency situations. Unfortunately, such orders were not always awarded in person, and many of the heroes of our time were awarded after his death in the line of duty.

Vladimir Nikolaevich was a first class pilot, chief of air training, sixty-first air base, located in Baranavichy. Born on the twenty eighth of November of 1958 in the city-hero Brest. Enrolled in the Armavir higher military aviation facility and successfully finished it in 1981 year.

Soon after training he served in the far East in the village of Kalinka near Khabarovsk. There Karvat first became Deputy commander of the regiment on the profile of flight training. During the time he held this post, has perfectly mastered flying the MiG-23.

After returning to his native land, Uladzimir decided to continue his military practice and joined the Belarusian Armed forces without presenting his life without an army. A few weeks later, on September 11, the ceremony of taking the oath of allegiance to the Belarusian people took place. From that time until the end of his days, Karvat held the post of chief of air combat, as well as tactical training in the 61st air base.

During the training flight in the spring of may 23, 1996, which was carried out as part of exercise 314, Vladimir flew a SU-27. His task was to fly in the sky with the corners of the roll, when manipulating combat techniques in the air in difficult weather conditions.
Run fighter under the hull number 29 began fifteen minutes to eleven at night.

Already after eight minutes, when the fighter reached a height of 900-t meters and was flying at the speed of almost 540-kilometers, lit up the scoreboard, signaling the rapid loss of pressure of the first hydraulic system.

After communication with the earth, Uladzimir karvat received the order to immediately abort the exercises. However, after half a minute, the system stopped sending messages about the failure of the system and other warnings about the failure of mechanisms. So, down a hundred feet, breaking the speed of 440 kilometers per hour, the whole system of the fighter began to decline.

After communication with the earth Vladimir Nikolaevich has received a command to leave the Board, but at the last moment the pilot noticed the direction in which moves the falling machine. If he were to surrender at the same time, the plane would have fallen on residential properties and would have been casualties. Karvat made a decision and tried to take the plane to a safe place and avoid the tragedy.

The alignment of the trajectory the pilot was only 14-th seconds, after which the aircraft crashed to the ground with a speed of 30 kilometers from the village of Maloe Hatysche. Dozens of villagers witnessed the fall of the fighter and rushed to the aid of the flammable object. Fifteen minutes later the ambulance and firefighters from the Settlement arrived. The flames pacified quickly and were able to get to the location of the pilot, but he was already dead.

The cause of failure of the SU-27 system is considered to be a fire that occurred in the tail fairing compartment. I wonder what the designers were assured that this item is fireproof, and for this reason it was not installed any sensors which could indicate a problem in her work.

Lieutenant Colonel Uladzimir karvat was posthumously awarded the order of "hero of Belarus" in the same 96th year, almost six months after the tragedy that deprived him of his life.

Now in the capital of Belarus Minsk and the hometown of the pilot Brest there are streets to them. Curvata, which is named in his honor. Also in Baranovichi there is a small square, which also bears the name of the hero. And on the territory of the sixty-first airbase was created Museum. Curvata.
