The most atypical temples in Bulgaria

in #history7 years ago

Spending your weekends in a mall, watching another action movie, eating a pizza at a pub or walking around the shops is so out of style. Well, if it's already. It is time for the Sofian to show his nose outside the capital. And since the period of adaptation from urban to natural, virgin nature is not a short one, we at Sofia Live decided to tell you which are the first 3 places to visit over the next weekends to save you time. Oh, yes - we are not the most religious, but we love beautiful places that contain a lot of history. That's why we decided to tell you about the most captivating temples of Bulgaria.

The rock church "St. Petka" is located near the town of Trun and its name comes from the Bulgarian saint Sveta Petka, which is believed to have been inhabited for a long time by this rock shelter. The chapel itself can hardly be spotted with the naked eye - so we will point you where to look to see it. On the way to Tran turn your gaze up and you will see it - huddled between the rocks, this sacred building observes what is happening throughout Tran. And once you get to know where the rock church is, you'll have to climb the stairs leading to it and enjoy the incredible view that will be revealed before your eyes. You will enter a cave whose walls are painted with frescoes, and as soon as you leave the temple, you will see a view that will make you feel as if you have just seen the Garden of Eden - the village of Tran is really beautiful from the high.

The next sanctuary you deserve to visit is also a rock church. It is dug into a rock in the village of Matochina (Haskovo district) and dates back to the 10th century and until the middle of the 20th it was still used for worship. The church is relatively deep for the time it is dating - about 14 meters, and it can be reached by hand cut into the rock steps. The place has an incredible view and the energy that is felt on it is cosmic.

The next temple that we recommend to visit is not rock; He's under water. It's about the underwater chapel of St. Nicholas. It is located near Primorsko. Opened just 4 years ago during archaeological excavations in the area, the chapel can now be freely visited by tourists. Do not think this is easy, however, because it requires you to dive at a depth of 10 meters below the water. There you can light a chemical candle and feel the mystical energy flowing around the waters around the temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. He does not think, but keep the air and jump into the water.
