until one day he meets the man who would help him change the story: Lord Carnarvon.
Lord Carnarvon was passionate about the Egyptian culture, in fact he lived in that country on the advice of his doctor since the warm weather would improve his health.
After meeting Howard Carter, he sponsors him in his treasure hunt.
Carnarvon becomes a patron of Howard Carter and after a year of searching he notices that he has not found anything but asks for his support (and money) for one more campaign. Lord Carnarvon believes in Carter's enthusiasm and decides to sponsor him. new, and what do you think?
Howard Carter does not find anything.
Embarrassed, he again asks for the help of Lord Carnarvon and after another year returns with empty hands and so on for several campaigns until Lord Carnarvon announces that he will only pay him one more campaign.
Carter spends day and night with his team ..
Digging and searching the desert for months until finally, the news of Howard Carter arrives at Lord Carnarvon ...
He found nothing, and Lord Carnarvon decides to withdraw his financial support.
But Howard Carter goes to Lord Carnarvon's house and tells him that he is sure he is digging in the right place, and tells him that although he will not give him money as soon as he finds something, he will dedicate the find to him for all the support he gave him. And Lord Carnarvon moved another campaign.
One morning Howard Carter arrived at the site and his workers were silent, everyone was looking at him strangely, when he asked what was happening, they pointed his finger at the ground, in the sand he could see the edge of a step. I had finally found something.
He never imagined that he was going to discover the existence of a pharaoh of whom he had no knowledge, he thought of finding some sculpture, or a house or something different but when they excavated he saw that there was a sealed door and then paled when he saw that there was a royal seal.
He climbed the steps, ran to the telegraph office and told Lord Carnarvon of the find, he replied that he would go to Egypt in two weeks.
But crankcase had perhaps made a terrible mistake, since graves had been found before, but all had been stolen.
Perhaps he had hurried to warn Lord Carnarvon so soon, surely the tomb was empty, or maybe it has nothing of value, but it was too late, Howard Carter would have to wait for the arrival of his sponsor to discover the mystery.
But Lord Carnarvon did not do the simple things to him, he arrived with a retinue of photographers and with his daughter, Lady Evelyn Herbert, Carter hoped to at least find a pair of pots or sculptures in the tomb so as not to be ridiculed and then broke the seal .
He made a hole in the wall of the tomb and asked for a candle to look inside, put his hand and did not see anything, in his diary he says that he felt hot air coming from the grave and that the candle almost went out when looking.
Suddenly Lord Carnarvon asked "what do you see?"
He was silent what seemed like an eternity to those around him, his eyes did not see anything but little by little he got used to the darkness, Carnarvon asked again if he saw anything, and Carter's answer is the most famous phrase in the history of archeology ..
"Wonderful things"
The tomb was full of treasures and I saw the glitter of gold everywhere.
Egypt became fashionable and the world was interested in all the news that will come from that country, rivers of ink ran with any detail that came from the tomb, but there was a detail that everyone was interested and here begins the curse .. .
It was believed that some tombs had curses written to scare off the thieves, and it is said that Tutankhamun's tomb was no exception and found a clay tablet that read "Death will strike with fear the one who disturbs rest of Pharaoh. "
4 months after entering the tomb, the man who financed everything, Lord Carnarvon, was bitten by a mosquito, when shaving he cut the bite and the wound became infected and began to spread throughout his body, to make matters worse he became ill. fever and died of pneumonia.
Just then there was a blackout in Cairo and the city was in total darkness, to this day it is not known what caused the city to go dark but the newspapers of the time began to speak of a curse.
It is even said that just at the time of the blackout, Lord Carnarvon's dog howled and fell dead (but that has never been confirmed)
What is known is that Lord Carnarvon's brother who also entered the tomb that day died mysteriously when he returned to London.
Arthur Mace was the man who gave the last blow to the wall that protected the entrance to the tomb where Tutankhamun rested.
He died a short time later and to this day there is no medical explanation.
Howard Carter continued to take things from the tomb to the sarcophagus and found hundreds of treasures, including the canopic vessels with the organs of Tutankhamun, 3 sarcophagi (one of solid gold) and the impressive mask (also of gold) that protected the mummy of the Pharaoh.
Sir Douglas Reid, played the mummy of Neb-Jeperu Ra better known as Tutankhamun and moved several times to make x-rays.
A few days later he returned to Switzerland and died inexplicably two months after moving the mummy.
To this day, the cause of his death is not known either.
Many said it was because maybe they had breathed something toxic that came from the grave but, the secretary of Howard Carter died months after a heart attack.
That was enough for the newspapers of the time to continue talking about a curse.
Of the 58 people who were present when the sarcophagus was opened, 12 died mysteriously, although Howard Carter himself died many years after natural causes, he even intended to seek the tomb of Alexander the Great, but here comes the weird. ..
After the death of Howard Carter, he discovered that he had stolen items from Pharaoh's tomb (which discreetly entered the museum to avoid a scandal)
It was learned that the moment when the tomb was opened, a cobra (symbol of royalty) killed Howard's canary.
Carter invited a Canadian professor to see the mummy and died of a stroke after moving it. In the decade of the 60 a request was made to move the pieces like loan to other museums of the world, the director of the museum accepted and died shortly afterwards.
A decade later a request was made to move the pieces of the museum, the director authorized to move the mummy and when leaving the museum he died run over.
For many there are only coincidences, for others there is a curse, however be careful because they remember what the tablet said "death will pursue with its wings anyone who bothers the rest of the dead".
